Fathers Day without Daddy

Fathers Day is a day of honouring fatherhood and paternal bonds, as well as the influence of fathers in society.  It is usual for children to give a card and a gift and spend the special day with their family.

However, for many RFUK families, Fathers Day is just another painful reminder of another occasion without their Dad being there.  Here are some of the stories, poems, cards and love from a distance.

The picture above was created by Benjamin Aged 3.  This Fathers Day picture has been put into a frame and sent to his seafarer Papa's ship for him to open on Fathers Day.

Benjamin's Dad, Elvin, has been on board ship since July 2019 and due to Covid-19 may not get off until November 2020.

Benjamin's Mum, Hayley, says it's soul destroying.  Life isn't worth living and it is causing severe depression.  She has a child unsure of who his Papa is with heart-wrenching screams crying for his Papa.  After his Papa last left, Benjamin stopped speaking and is scared to say Bye as in his eyes Bye means that person won't come back.
