The Launch of Reunite Talks

In case you missed it, last week Tuesday 21st June,  we launched Reunite Talks; a host of Instagram live’s & podcasts that we will be doing with significant people, including our members over the course of the next few months. The aim of Reunite Talks is to educate the wider communities of the issues faced within the family visa community.

Usually, it’s only those who have been through the process, or have a close friend or family member going through it who are understanding the struggles, but for others they will be totally oblivious, for which we don’t blame them, why would they believe a government who preaches the importance of family values could be so cruel and force families into such isolating situations?

Our first episode via Instagram live, called Love in Exile where our membership engagement and Communications manager Paige Ballmi interviews Mary Eligu, a member of Reunite Families UK currently exiled in Uganda because of the harsh visa rules on spouses.

Mary is married to a Ugandan citizen, but has no way of meeting the requirements to live in the UK with her spouse and is one of many of our members, who have this same issue.

Mary explains how the rules have affected her emotionally, and that the current hostile environment in the UK, a place she once considered home is no longer a place she wants coming back to until there is a more welcoming change.
